  • July 20 - Day 18 - Jasper to Kalispell - The Bus

We got up before 6:00 and had the hotel's continental buffet at 6:30. It was good. I had granola and crumpets along with coffee and juice. Dick and I walked over to the Bear Claw Bakery and got a sandwich and scone to go for lunch. My job this morning was to help Denny Brua inside the bus to put most of the bicycles on the rear seats. The seats were covered with large plastic garbage bags so that grease wouldn't get on them. We got this done in record time and took off at 8:05.

The bus had large picture windows so we could look out and appreciate the final views of all of the scenery that we saw going the other way. We made one stop at The Crossing and then continued on to Kalispell with a pause at the border. We all brought our lunches with us and the bus hot a toilet, so we had a comfortable ride.

We got to the Red Lion Hotel at 5:00 and unloaded the bicycles and luggage. Dick and I checked into our room. The van then arrived. Dave parked it next to my van. It was easy to transfer my bicycle, the tandem, the tandem box, my ice chest and my pump. I parked my van closer to the hotel's front door and locked it up.

We went to dinner at The Saloon. Dick and I split a pitcher of Moose Drool and a medium combination pizza. I then gassed up the car, got some breakfast supplies and went to bed.
