Vernazza Harbor - Monterossa al Mare in the Distance

We caught a train from Firenze to La Specia, the southern doorway to the Cinque Terre. Here we bought three-day passes for the local train. After lunch, we caught the train for Vernazza where we settled in at Albergo Barbara a family run hotel on the city square and waterfront. We spent the day exploring the town.

The next day, we hiked with Suellen and John north on the path to Monterossa al Mare. It was a rainy day, but the views were spectacular. We took the train back to Vernazzo and were surprised by the locals taking their boats out of the water onto the harbor's square. They were expecting heavy rain and didn't want their boats to get swamped.

Start of the Hike - Via dell Amore

The last day, Suellen and John decided to hike south along the path to do some birding. We wanted to cover more ground, so we took the train to the southern-most town - Riomaggiore. We started our hike here back to Vernazzo. We crossed paths with Suellen and John near Corniglia.
