    John Benson Relaxing At Sea

This was the first of several sea days. As you can see from the photo of John Benson at the top of this page, it was time to relax.

Ann and I decided to have breakfast in The Restaurant this morning. This was a carryover from our HAL cruises where escaped to the main dining room because buffet was too crowded and hectic. Believe me, The Restaurant was not crowded and the opposite from hectic. Although the food was very good, the service was extremely slow. Seating was arranged where several tables for two were placed close to each other. This gave us an opportunity to talk to other passengers. Because we were on Deck 2, we could watch as the ocean rolled past and the energetic passengers strolled and jogged by on the promenade deck outside the windows.

Our morning and afternoon was passed by going to lectures, eating lunch in the buffet and taking it easy. For dinner, the six of us went to the Chef's Table. This was a wonderful gourmet experience. We had a theme focussed five course meal with wine parings for each course. Our waiter introduced each course and each wine. It was a tasty and fulfilling experience. We left completely happy.

After the buzz of our food and wine wore off, we decided to go to the Star Theater to watch the Viking Sea Singers perform "The ABBA Songbook". The singers were a young quartet form England - two women and two men. They had very good voices and their ABBA performance was excellent.

    Bedtime was around 10:30.
