  • July 2 - Mukilteo to Seattle

Because it was the weekend, thr breakfast room was not open until 7:30. I had my normal breakfast of juice, cereal and muffins. The truck was not leaving until 9:00 which gave us an extra 1/2 to finish eating and load our gear.

The first challange of the day was the hill direct out of Mukilteo. It was 1 1/2 miles long at an average of 5%. A little steeper than the hill near my house, but reasonably difficult with tired, stiff early morning legs. The second challange was to follow the route sheet with all of its turns. We did it, though. The weather was overcast but not too cool, especially after the first hill. We rode through neighborhoods in Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace eventually merging onto the Burke-Gilman Trail and taking it all the way to the University Village. This was the end of our tour. We chained our bikes and went to the Ram to celebrate. I had a tasty Pub Burger and a good IPA.

We left the Ram and backtracked to the Silver Cloud Inn. It was early afternoon. I retrieved my bicycle case from the storage room, took it to my room and packed my bicycle. Our last Happy Hour was in Gloria and Fred's room. HRs in hotel rooms are a lot easier when we have only 14 people on the ride. With larger groups, it is too crowded.

Our final dinner was at Liam's (now closed) in the University Village, an easy walk from our hotel. I had a Mishima Reserve Wagyu, an 8 oz. flank steak, garlic mashed potatoes, blue cheese butter. It was good but the name makes it sound better.

We all said our good-byes and walked back to the hotel.
