  • March 31 - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

    Land's End

Although Ann was feeling almost normal, we didn't want to expose anybody to whatever she came down with. So we decided to have breakfast at the buffet on the Lido deck instead of the dining room. We isolated ourselves with a solo table.

The harbor at Cabo San Lucas is not as deep as most of the other harbors that we visited. We had to anchor in the middle of it and use tenders to go ashore. Some of the tenders were our life boats; some were local. I liked the idea of using our life boats to prove that they were easy to launch and that they were in good working condition. While sailing into the harbor we passed an area known as Land's End. It is a rocky outcrop with an isolated beach. Land's End is the southern tip of Baja California.

The weather was sunny but a little on the cool side as we disembarked from the tender and started walking alongside the harbor. We saw lots of boats tied up to the numerous piers. We also saw lots of hotels and condos on the hillside and on the surrounding beaches. We know several people that own timeshares in Cabo and visit them on a regular basis. We also saw lots of restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. One of the attractions was a dolphin center where you could cuddle dolphins and swim with them for a price. We didn't do that. Instead, we watched a girl hand-feeding sea lions with a cut up fish carcass.

Along the walk we ran into Sam and Marilyn, one of our dining couples. In addition, I went into one of the shops and bought a couple of t-shirts.

Back on the ship, we had lunch. Then Ann went swimming while I read. We skipped happy hour but not dinner. This was our final dress dinner. I had surf and turf while Ann had eggplant. Pajar, our head waiter, gave us some extra king crab legs. I was happy. Showtime was our ship's ensemble singing and dancing to a fairy tale theme.

This is how we got here:
