    Eidfjord

July 30 - At Sea Our first day at sea was relaxing. We went to presentations on things to see and do at our Norwegian ports. Dinner was at the main dining room. After that we went to the stage show called "One World", featuring Koningdam's singers and dancers. We were impressed with the World Stage, the main entertainment venue. The large auditorium had excellent sight lines with no obstructions. The background had a wraparound LED video canvas that projected amazing images. The singers and dancers were good too.

July 31 - Eidfjord We arrived in Eidfjord at 7:00. The bow was open so that we could watch our early morning cruise through the fjord. It was raining slightly so there were very few passengers on deck. We could see our side of the fjord from our veranda.

After breakfast, Ellen joined Ann and me for a walk through the town. We followed most of the dark blue route which took us up a hill past a couple of churches - one new and the other one very old (built in 1309). We visited a wood craftsman and looked at his collection of Hardanger Fiddles which are traditional stringed instruments used originally to play the music of Norway. We continued our walk along a country lane past farms, old country houses, new urban houses and local businesses until we reached our ship.

Back on board, we ate lunch and then watched Hardangerfjord pass by after our early 3:00 departure. The captain had to lower the topside equipment so that the ship could pass under the Hardanger Bridge.

Dinner was in the main dining room after which we went to the World Stage to enjoy Iris Kroes, a harpist, singer and song writer from Holland.
