We flew from Cairo to JFK today on Egypt Air. It was a long twelve hour flight. Check in was easy although it seemed like there was more scrutiny at some check points, especially the first one where they took a long time viewing our luggage. I was able to carry my bottle of water all the way onto the plane.

The temperature when we arrived at JFK was 19 degrees F. We took AirTrain and the free shuttle and checked in to the Hilton Garden Inn in Queens. We had a light dinner and stayed awake until 8:00.

I'd like to make a plug for this hotel. The cost of rooms are very reasonable. It's easy and free to get to and from the airport. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff is extremely nice. The meals are good with breakfast free (we were there on OAT's rate). It's easy to get to anywhere in New York City via AirTrain and the subway. Wireless internet is free and fast. They have a mico store where you can buy incidentals including snacks and things that you forgot to pack.
